Position: Higher Education Expert

Type: Hourly Contract

Compensation: $60–$70/hour

Location: Remote

About the Opportunity

Mercor is seeking experienced higher education professionals to help evaluate how effectively AI systems perform real-world work within universities and higher education institutions. This role involves designing realistic academic and administrative scenarios, developing evaluation frameworks, and assessing AI-generated outputs against the standards expected of senior faculty members and university leaders.

Ideal Candidates

  • 5+ years of experience as faculty, an academic administrator, or a senior higher education professional
  • Experience managing academic programs, enrollment initiatives, research administration, student success programs, or institutional strategy
  • Strong understanding of accreditation standards, shared governance, curriculum development, and higher education operations
  • Familiarity with higher education systems and tools such as Banner, Workday Student, Canvas, Blackboard, Cayuse, or InfoEd
  • Excellent written communication and analytical skills
  • Experience creating training materials, curricula, rubrics, or institutional documentation is a plus

Key Responsibilities

  • Design higher education scenarios involving curriculum development, accreditation reviews, faculty governance, and institutional planning
  • Create evaluation tasks across academic affairs, student affairs, research administration, enrollment management, and advancement operations
  • Develop reference outputs including academic plans, accreditation documentation, and executive-level communications
  • Evaluate AI-generated work using structured grading criteria and professional judgment
  • Apply higher education frameworks and best practices to assess quality and accuracy
  • Author rubrics that distinguish authentic higher education expertise from generic academic knowledge
