Hinge is the dating app built to be deleted. In a world where genuine connection is increasingly hard to find, our mission is to foster meaningful relationships and help make life less lonely. We focus deeply on understanding how people use Hinge so we can help them find love, and we measure success by one thing: creating great dates. With millions of users worldwide, we’ve become the most trusted place to build real relationships.

About the Role:
Hinge is looking for a strategic, imaginative Editorial Director to shape and lead the stories that express our mission of reducing loneliness. You’ll set the editorial vision for how our brand and values appear across our storytelling channels—such as the Hinge Newsroom—while also contributing directly to the systems and content we produce.

As a senior leader within communications and marketing, you’ll turn Hinge’s mission, research, product thinking, and partnerships into strong external narratives. You’ll collaborate closely with teams across product, technology, research, and people to ensure our stories are cohesive, accurate, culturally relevant, and aligned with our brand voice and long-term goals. These narratives will clarify what we stand for and elevate Hinge’s presence in cultural conversations around dating, relationships, loneliness, and technology.

Responsibilities
• Define and own Hinge’s editorial vision and long-term strategy for owned platforms, ensuring all stories reflect our mission, values, and voice.
• Lead and continue developing the Hinge Newsroom, overseeing articles, features, Q&As, and narrative storytelling that support thought leadership, executive visibility, product storytelling, and advice-driven content for daters.
• Build and manage Hinge’s technology blog with cross-functional teams, crafting credible, human-centered stories about our technology, product principles, and innovations.
• Understand how owned storytelling contributes to earned media, executive visibility, and brand reputation.
• Turn complex technical ideas, product decisions, and AI advancements into clear, engaging stories that build audience trust.
• Create culturally relevant content that highlights Hinge’s work, our daters, and the themes shaping a less lonely world.
• Uphold strong editorial standards, writing and editing content that presents Hinge’s perspective with clarity, warmth, and purpose.
• Ensure all content builds trust and emotional connection, reinforcing Hinge’s thoughtful, human-first approach.
• Develop editorial guidelines and frameworks that help partners across the company create consistent, on-brand content.
• Edit and refine material from team leads while maintaining accuracy and enhancing storytelling.
• Build a scalable editorial system—working with Creative, Operations, and Tech teams—to improve blog UX, workflows, publishing standards, and content structures that support long-term growth.
• Partner across Communications, Marketing, Creative, Product, Social Impact, Legal, and Trust & Safety to uncover meaningful stories, including interviewing internal or external experts.
• Ensure Hinge’s voice is consistent across all owned storytelling channels.
• Act as a connector across teams, aligning narrative, voice, and visuals to create a unified storytelling experience.
• Advise senior leaders and technical partners on narrative strategy, story selection, and editorial best practices.

What We’re Looking For
• 10+ years of experience in editorial, journalism, or brand storytelling, ideally within mission-driven consumer brands or communications-focused organizations.
• Proven experience building or leading an owned storytelling platform such as a newsroom or editorial site.
• Strong background collaborating with Product, Engineering, or Technical teams and explaining complex concepts in human terms.
• Outstanding writing, editing, and narrative development skills, with the ability to make complex ideas clear and emotionally engaging.
• Deep understanding of how editorial storytelling shapes brand trust and credibility.
• Highly collaborative and comfortable working across multiple teams.
• Able to set a vision while executing high-quality work hands-on.
• Curious, culturally aware, and skilled at identifying timely stories that support Hinge’s mission.
• Interest in the evolving media landscape and emerging formats that create meaningful audience connections.
• Data-informed storyteller who uses insights to shape strategy and measure impact.
• Empathetic leader who values clarity, craft, and intention.
• Experience turning product and technology principles into compelling, human-centered stories.

Compensation: $186,000–$223,000 per year
This range reflects compensation for a New York City–based role. Actual pay may vary based on factors such as experience, responsibilities, skills, internal equity, and market conditions. Geographic adjustments may apply if approved for another location.

As a member of our team, you’ll receive:
• 401(k) matching: 100% match on the first 10% of your pre-tax contribution, up to $10,000 annually.
• Professional growth opportunities: Annual L&D stipend after three months, plus free Udemy access from day one.
• Parental leave: 20 weeks fully paid leave for all new parents.
• Fertility support through Carrot, including coverage for fertility preservation for you and your partner.
• Monthly date stipend: $100 per month for memorable experiences, plus free Hinge Premium for you and loved ones.
• Access to eight Employee Resource Groups that host events and provide ongoing support.

At Hinge, our core values are:
• Authenticity: We communicate openly and honestly.
• Courage: We take on ambitious goals and challenges.
• Empathy: We genuinely consider others’ perspectives.
• Diversity fuels innovation.

Hinge is an equal-opportunity employer. We welcome and value diversity and do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability. 2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
