Purpose: The Manager, New Hire & Role Development is responsible for leading the design, execution, and continuous improvement of onboarding and role-development experiences for the Vision commercial organization.

This role partners closely with Sales Leadership, field managers, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Clinical, Compliance, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure development programs are aligned to business priorities, field realities, and role expectations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Lead the strategy, evolution and execution of the new sales representative onboarding process, ensuring new hires receive a structured, engaging, and consistent learning experience from pre-boarding through field readiness.
  • Translate field, business, and performance needs into practical learning and development solutions.
  • Design and improve blended learning journeys that incorporate formal learning, field application, practice, coaching, reinforcement, and assessment.
  • Partner with Sales Leaders and field managers to define readiness expectations, critical capabilities, and development priorities.
  • Ensure onboarding reflects real customer interactions, selling expectations, territory and account-management responsibilities, product knowledge, business acumen, and industry context.
  • Build manager engagement into the onboarding experience through defined touchpoints, coaching expectations, tools, and resources.
  • Apply adult-learning principles and capability-development practices to improve learner engagement, application, and retention.
  • Provide guidance to field trainers, facilitators, peer coaches, subject-matter experts, and external partners to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Use feedback, assessments, field observations, and relevant business indicators to evaluate effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and manage priorities, timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate high-impact onboarding and commercial-development experiences as needed.
  • Stay closely connected to the field to ensure programs remain relevant to evolving business and customer needs.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: BA/BS required; MA/MS in a related field preferred.
  • Vision Care sales experience preferred, or 5+ years of Sales Training, onboarding, learning and development, or commercial training experience required.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect capability needs to commercial priorities.
  • Strong understanding of field selling, customer engagement, territory/account management, and commercial performance expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate engaging training experiences in both virtual and in-person environments.
  • It would be a plus if the candidate had experience building, refining, or managing training curriculum, learning journeys, facilitator guides, assessments, and training materials.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to distill complex product, selling, systems, and process information into clear, practical, and engaging learning experiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate timelines, logistics, content owners, and cross-functional contributors.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to assess training effectiveness, identify gaps, and strengthen processes over time.
  • Comfortable with remote work and willing to travel domestically to support in-person onboarding and field training needs.

Travel approximately 15-25% as needed to support in-person onboarding sessions, field training, and key commercial training events.

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
