Program Manager II, Amazon Customs and Trade, Amazon Customs and Trade

Other Jobs To Apply

<strong>Description<br><br></strong>Are you excited by the idea of building financial systems that power global trade? As Amazon Customs and Trade (ACT) expands its global reach and technology product portfolio, it needs billing infrastructure that can keep pace with onboarding new customers across markets. We are looking for a Program Manager to own end-to-end financial automation and compliance program delivery across our customs finance operations. This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Tax, Accounting, Compliance, and Engineering, translating upstream product decisions into correctly configured, operationally ready financial systems that enable accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) payment flows with vendors, ports of entry, and government entities worldwide.<br><br>You will manage a cross-functional program independently, own all program communication, and drive timely decisions across partner teams. The configuration work you deliver is the on/off switch for Amazon's ability to bill, collect revenue, make vendor payments, and meet financial obligations to government and legal entities. A misconfigured charge code means invoices do not generate, disbursements do not clear, and government fees go unremitted. If you thrive in high-stakes, detail-oriented environments where your work has immediate and measurable financial impact, this role is for you.<br><br>Key job responsibilities<br><br><ul><li> Lead the financial readiness lifecycle from intake through post-launch stabilization, ensuring no incomplete or non-compliant work reaches engineering and coordinating user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate system behavior before launch.</li><li> Drive AP and AR automation execution across multiple regions in partnership with Accounting, Tax, and billing engine teams, and set up performance indicators where none exist.</li><li> Manage onboarding of new trading partners and broker billing model migrations, including net-new legal entity standup, working with Finance, Compliance, and Engineering stakeholders to meet regulatory and financial obligations.</li><li> Own the charge code, company code, and Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC) configuration pipeline across ACT finance systems by sequencing intake, managing prioritization, and driving requests to completion.</li><li> Build and improve program mechanisms that scale, including intake systems, SLA frameworks, handoff protocols, and measurement infrastructure to increase delivery predictability and reduce manual work.<br><br></li></ul>A day in the life<br><br>You join recurring syncs with Engineering, Finance, Tax, and Accounting teams to align on open work-streams and unblock dependencies. You typically check of the configuration pipeline, triaging new intake requests and re-prioritizing based on urgency. Much of your work is proactive and roadmap-driven: you plan configuration sequences, prepare financial readiness gates for upcoming launches, and build playbooks that keep delivery on track. You also carve out heads-down time to refine intake mechanisms, analyze root causes of post-launch defects, and document process improvements. Along the way, you collaborate closely with fellow program managers to share context and coordinate across parallel efforts.<br><br><strong>About The Team<br><br></strong>Amazon Customs and Trade (ACT) is a team of program and product managers building the customs brokerage and financial infrastructure that powers Amazon's cross-border trade operations. Our mission is to make it easy for customers to meet the regulatory requirements of international goods movement while delivering value through transparent and predictable services. As ACT expands its global footprint, you will gain deep expertise in how financial automation is applied to cross-border trade, growing your skills at the convergence of finance, compliance, and technology. We are a collaborative group that values creative problem-solving, and we are excited to welcome someone who wants to help shape the future of global trade at Amazon.<br><br><strong>Basic Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> 3+ years of program or project management experience</li><li> 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience</li><li> Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL</li><li> Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements</li><li> Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience</li><li> 3+ years of driving process improvements experience</li><li> Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization</li><li> Experience building processes, project management, and schedules<br><br></li></ul>Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.<br><br>Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
