The Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for leading the development and revision of specialized laboratory tests on patient samples. This role involves managing laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with M42 and Department of Health (DOH)/ Dubai Health Authority (DHA) standards, and providing senior leadership through mentoring junior staff.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and refine laboratory tests, including Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) molecular testing, tissue typing, antibody screening, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplification, and sequence-based typing.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in laboratory work, ensuring reliable test results and adherence to strict quality standards.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills to interpret complex laboratory data, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical and laboratory teams to foster collaboration and convey technical information clearly.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff, promoting a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently, prioritizing workload to meet deadlines.
  • Stay current with advancements in clinical genomics and laboratory methodologies, adapting to changes in the laboratory environment.
  • Contribute to patient safety and high-quality healthcare delivery.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years clinical experience in a clinical laboratory since first registration as a qualified laboratory science professional.
  • 4-6 years clinical experience in a clinical laboratory environment since first registration as a qualified laboratory science professional.
  • Evidence of progressive leadership and management experience in a clinical position.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science or Biomedical Science or an equivalent qualification requiring 2+ years training course.
  • Department of Health (DOH) License OR Dubai Health Authority (DHA) License.
