  • Join a collaborative team of Design, Product, QA, and other engineering members in developing robust and scalable software within Toast’s POS applications
  • Drive architectural decisions for correctness, performance, and scale; author and review technical designs within and beyond the team
  • Provide design feedback and participate in code reviews to ensure implementations meet requirements
  • Align the technical vision and roadmap for the Orders platform with Toast's strategy
  • Be a domain expert for order processing and synchronization, and the go-to partner for teams whose products build on orders
  • Advocate for best coding practices to raise the bar for you, your team, and the company
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other team members and raise the engineering bar across the team and the broader Orders organization.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

  • Track record of delivering significant platform capabilities across multiple teams in large engineering organizations
  • A mix of mobile and backend development expertise, focused on distributed systems problems at high scale in large codebases
  • Deep understanding of automated testing, quality, and SDLC best practices, with a history of shipping reliable apps, microservices, and libraries to production
  • Experience delivering high-quality, reliable apps or libraries to production
  • Expertise with modern API technologies (e.g. REST, GraphQL), including schema design, evolution, and versioning across many consumers
  • Experience owning business-critical services in production: leading incident response and driving long-term reliability improvements
  • Excellent cross-team communication skills on complex technical topics
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude, Cursor, MCP servers)
  • Passionate about technology and learning new things.
  • Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building - contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...
