Position Summary...<br><br>What you'll do...Role summary:<br><br>The (USA) Senior Merchant leads category strategy and financial management for complex product lines, driving customer-centric decisions across channels while managing and mentoring associate merchants. This role oversees supplier negotiations, pricing, and promotional strategies while managing team performance and development. Utilizing data analysis and market insights, the Senior Merchant shapes assortment, replenishment, and channel alignment to meet financial targets. Collaborating cross-functionally, this position supports operational execution and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance business outcomes and deliver value to customers through effective merchandising and strategic planning.<br><br>About the team:<br><br>The team is committed to delivering a seamless and efficient shopping experience by managing the complete digital journey for customers. They focus on vendor relationship management, category strategy, and supplier coordination to ensure excellent product assortment and competitive pricing. Utilizing data analysis and e-commerce expertise, the team supports merchandising decisions and promotional activities. Collaboration across functions drives continuous improvement and operational excellence. This team plays a vital role in aligning business goals with customer needs, maintaining high standards, and fostering a results-driven environment that supports Walmart’s dedication to value and quality.<br><br>What you'll do:<br><br><ul><li>Manage and mentor an associate merchant while creating a world-class culture of belonging. </li><li>Develop and execute category strategies to drive long-term business growth and profitability. </li><li>Manage profit and loss responsibilities, including financial forecasting and budget adherence. </li><li>Lead supplier negotiations, establish terms, and oversee supplier performance and communication. </li><li>Guide and develop a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, and performance management. </li><li>Analyze customer behavior, market trends, and competitive landscape to inform merchandising and pricing decisions. </li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally to align channel strategies and optimize product assortment and placement. </li><li>Utilize data analytics to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives. </li><li>Oversee pricing, promotions, and markdown strategies to maximize category performance. <br><br></li></ul>What you'll bring:<br><br><ul><li>Extensive experience in category and supplier management with a strong focus on customer-centric strategies. </li><li>Proven ability to lead and develop teams, driving engagement and performance through coaching and mentoring. </li><li>Expertise in financial management, including profit and loss ownership, budgeting, and forecasting for complex categories. </li><li>Strong negotiation skills to influence supplier agreements and optimize pricing and terms. </li><li>Proficiency in merchandising, assortment planning, and channel strategy to maximize business results. </li><li>Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and digital tools to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement. </li><li>Excellent communication skills to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders effectively. <br><br></li></ul>At Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet.
