About the position

The VP Product, Monetization, Identity & Core Services is an executive product leader responsible for the strategy, roadmap, and outcomes of Crunchyroll’s identity, access, monetization, payments, billing, and foundational consumer services. The role connects the full commercial and access lifecycle: registration, login, account recovery, checkout, payment authorization, subscription management, renewal, retention, and trusted account usage. The leader will build reusable capabilities across products, devices, platforms, markets, and partner channels while balancing fan experience, revenue growth, operational efficiency, security, privacy, and compliance. This role reports to the SVP Product and partners closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Finance, Legal, Privacy, Security, Trust & Safety, Customer Experience, Marketing, and Business Development.

Responsibilities

  • Define the product strategy for subscription monetization, checkout, pricing, offers, upgrades, downgrades, win-back, cross-sell, and localized payment experiences.
  • Improve the end-to-end journey from intent through conversion, activation, renewal, and re-engagement.
  • Expand payment-method coverage in strategic markets while preserving a coherent global platform.
  • Establish experimentation and measurement practices that connect product changes to subscribers, conversion, ARPU, retention, and revenue.
  • Partner with commercial and regional leaders on market-specific opportunities and scalable global solutions.
  • Own the vision for unified consumer identity across web, mobile, TV, games, manga, partners, and emerging platforms.
  • Improve registration, login, passwordless and OTP access, account recovery, session management, authentication, and cross-platform continuity.
  • Define account, household, profile, consent, and identity models that support fan convenience, personalization, trust, and growth.
  • Balance frictionless access with protection against account takeover, credential abuse, unauthorized access, and other identity risks.
  • Establish shared identity services and integration patterns that enable product teams to build consistently.
  • Own the product strategy for payment processing, billing, payment-method management, recurring charges, refunds, dunning, retries, account updater capabilities, and payment orchestration.
  • Improve payment approval and renewal success while reducing passive churn, payment failures, chargebacks, fraud losses, and finance costs.
  • Develop an intelligent multi-PSP strategy, including routing, tokenization, failover, retry logic, risk-aware decisioning, and payment-method optimization.
  • Enable reliable global expansion through localized payment methods, installments, alternative billing models, and partner integrations.
  • Ensure payment products meet applicable PCI DSS, privacy, financial, and regional regulatory requirements.
  • Identify shared capabilities that should be built once and reused across product domains.
  • Establish clear product ownership for account services, membership and entitlement foundations, wallet capabilities, offers and incentives, consent, and monetization data.
  • Improve service reliability, observability, operational tooling, and launch readiness.
  • Create product standards and APIs that reduce fragmentation and increase delivery velocity across teams.
  • Partner with Engineering on architecture-adjacent product strategy without assuming ownership of technical implementation.
  • Partner with Trust & Safety, Security, Legal, Privacy, Finance, and CX to embed protection into identity and monetization journeys.
  • Set product requirements for fraud mitigation, chargeback prevention, account protection, payment risk, abuse prevention, and privacy-aware experiences.
  • Ensure risk controls are proportional, explainable, measurable, and designed to minimize false positives and fan friction.
  • Establish executive visibility into revenue integrity, account protection, payment health, and customer-impacting incidents.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing organization of product leaders and individual contributors across monetization, payments, identity, and core services.
  • Set clear ownership boundaries, decision rights, prioritization mechanisms, and outcome-based roadmaps.
  • Create a unified operating rhythm across strategy, planning, execution, launch, measurement, and learning.
  • Represent the portfolio in executive forums and communicate tradeoffs clearly.
  • Build strong partnerships with Engineering and operational functions so platform capabilities are adopted through quality, usability, and measurable value.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including significant leadership of consumer platforms, subscription products, monetization, payments, identity, or related services.
  • Experience leading multiple product domains and senior product managers in a global, high-scale environment.
  • A proven record of improving conversion, retention, revenue, payment performance, or consumer platform adoption.
  • Deep understanding of subscription economics, payment processing, billing, PSPs, payment orchestration, fraud, identity, authentication, and account systems.
  • Experience building reusable platform capabilities across multiple products, devices, markets, and partner channels.
  • Strong judgment balancing fan experience, growth, reliability, security, privacy, compliance, and cost.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence Engineering, Finance, Legal, Security, Trust & Safety, CX, Marketing, and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical ability and experience establishing metrics, dashboards, experimentation, and operating mechanisms.
  • Exceptional communication, organization-building, and executive decision-making skills.
  • Passion for anime, fandom, and creating experiences that help fans join, stay, and return.

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
