As Marqeta’s <strong>Credit Risk Senior Manager, </strong>you will lead our credit risk and pricing strategy, helping us launch and scale credit programs from the ground up. You will drive innovation to establish best in class credit strategies in partnership with internal stakeholders and external bank partners and customers. You will create something unique in the embedded credit space: a marketplace that enables fintech apps, wallets, and merchants to offer credit products at scale.<br><br>Embedded within finance, this role will support Marqeta’s evolving managed credit card programs by shaping credit risk strategy across acquisition and account management, pricing, performance and portfolio monitoring, in partnership with cross functional execution teams across product, engineering, sales, operations and other functional areas.<br><br>We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely in the United States, only in one of our Premium or National locations, which you can review here.<br><br><strong>The Impact You’ll Have<br><br></strong><strong>Credit Strategy & Policy<br><br></strong><ul><li>Own end-to-end credit strategy initiatives — from framework design through implementation and ongoing monitoring</li><li>Build, review, and refine consumer and commercial credit card risk and pricing strategies</li><li>Proactively adjust credit card policies based on portfolio performance and risk trends</li><li>Establish strategies that directly drive KPIs: approval rates, new accounts, loss rates, profit margin, and more<br><br></li></ul><strong>Modeling & Data<br><br></strong><ul><li>Partner with data scientists to build best-in-class credit risk and cash flow models</li><li>Work with product to develop modern credit stacks and data strategies leveraging financial, bank, and third-party datasets — enabling underwriting automation at scale<br><br></li></ul><strong>Capital Markets & Partners<br><br></strong><ul><li>Partner with capital markets on securitization structures, warehouse lines, and forward flow deals</li><li>Provide analytical support to co-brand partners, including loss forecasts and profitability analysis<br><br></li></ul><strong>Governance & Reporting<br><br></strong><ul><li>Draft underwriting and risk documentation</li><li>Support bank partners on model validation and governance</li><li>Report KPIs and risk performance to senior management regularly<br><br></li></ul><strong>Advisory & Cross-Functional Leadership<br><br></strong><ul><li>Serve as a risk consultant to bank partners and customers — recommending improvements to credit strategies</li><li>Collaborate across Banking, Product, Finance, and Capital Markets as an internal strategic resource and external-facing advisor<br><br></li></ul><strong>Who You Are<br><br></strong><strong>Experience & Background<br><br></strong><ul><li>8+ years building credit card risk and pricing programs, ideally at a fintech — across consumer and/or commercial underwriting</li><li>Proven ownership across the full credit card lifecycle:</li><ul><li>Credit policy and risk strategy development, monitoring, and adjustment</li><li>Approval, line assignment, and pricing strategy design</li><li>Risk assessments for prospective partners</li><li>Acquisition strategy across card programs</li></ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Math, or a related field<br></li></ul><strong>Technical Skills<br><br></strong><ul><li>Expert in Excel and SQL modeling</li><li>Comfortable using data to build alignment across stakeholders with competing priorities<br><br></li></ul><strong>Collaboration & Communication<br><br></strong><ul><li>Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, finance, compliance, bank partners, and capital providers</li><li>Exceptional communicator — able to translate complex credit concepts for executive, partner, and cross-functional audiences (written and verbal)<br><br></li></ul><strong>Mindset & Adaptability<br><br></strong><ul><li>Comfortable in a build environment — moves fluidly between strategy and execution without a large supporting team</li><li>Thrives in fast-paced, dynamic settings with shifting priorities</li><li>Demonstrated ability to adapt credit strategies in response to portfolio performance changes or macroeconomic conditions<br><br></li></ul><strong>Your Manager<br><br></strong>Neha Nanda, Senior Director, Credit Risk<br><br><strong>Our (typical) Process<br><br></strong><ul><li>Application Submission</li><li>Recruiter video call</li><li>Hiring manager video call</li><li>Virtual “Onsite” consisting of 4-5, 45 min calls</li><li>Offer!<br><br></li></ul><strong>Compensation And Benefits<br><br></strong>Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office.
