Remitly Educational UGC Videos

Other Jobs To Apply

Casting a series of four short educational UGC videos aimed at Chinese senders in the US and Canada. The videos will explain digital remittance and show how Remitly can be used to send money to China. Each concept targets a different audience and delivery method: Weixin / WeChat Pay: Younger audience, focused on speed, convenience, and low fees Alipay: Mid-career audience, focused on trust, reliability, and instant delivery Bank Account: Older audience, focused on familiarity, reliability, and Chinese-language support Digital Remittance Overview: General educational piece comparing digital remittance with traditional banks Deliverable: "Short-form Video" Description:

Client: Remitly
Campaign: China Market Education Series
Format: Short-form UGC videos (15 seconds each)
Aspect Ratios: 16:9 and 9:16
Language: Mandarin (Simplified Chinese captions)
Total Videos: 8 (4 concepts, 2 sizes each)
Budget: $602 for each video. One talent will be selected for the video. Recording only, no script development nor editing required.

Your Role:
You are the on-camera talent for one of four educational video concepts about digital money transfer. You'll show real people how to use Remitly to send money from the US/Canada to China — fast, cheap, and easy.

Your Video (15 seconds):
Hook (0-2 sec): Grab attention with a relatable opening in Mandarin
Demo (2-8 sec): Walk through the app, show how to send money
Offer (8-12 sec): Mention the promo (first transfer free)
End (12-15 sec): Brand close and legal disclaimer
That's it. Simple, authentic, you.

Which concept are you doing?
You'll be assigned to one of these four scenarios:

Concept 1: Send via WeChat Pay
Best for: Ages 25-29, younger professional energy
Your Story: "I send money to my family through WeChat Pay — it's instant and costs less than $2"
The Hook: Open with your phone, WeChat notification, or someone asking for money
The Demo: Show downloading Remitly (if new) or opening the app, selecting WeChat Pay as the receive method, entering amount, sending
The Vibe: Fast, modern, no-nonsense

Concept 2: Send via Alipay
Best for: Ages 35-45, established, confident
Your Story: "My parents use Alipay. I send them money in minutes, and they get it instantly"
The Hook: Parent calling, Alipay logo, or checking your app
The Demo: Show the Alipay send flow, mention instant delivery, flat fee under $2
The Vibe: Reliable, trustworthy, practical

Concept 3: Send to Bank Account
Best for: Ages 55-65, traditional, thoughtful
Your Story: "I still use the bank. With Remitly, it's cheaper and faster than my old way, plus they speak Chinese if I need help"
The Hook: Opening your banking app, or talking about why you prefer banks
The Demo: Show the bank transfer option, mention 24/7 Chinese support, flat fee under $2
The Vibe: Reassuring, no rush, clear and reliable

Concept 4: Why Digital Beats Banks (Overview)
Best for: Ages 30-35, community-connected
Your Story: "I used to send through my bank. Now I use Remitly because it's faster, cheaper, and easier"
The Hook: Direct camera, personal story, or side-by-side comparison
The Demo: Show Remitly's speed and fees vs. the old way, what you can do with the app
The Vibe: Peer-to-peer, authentic, education + inspiration

Talent requirements:
Native Mandarin speaker (accent check — authentic Mandarin, not American/Canadian-accented Mandarin)
Based in US or Canada (makes it easier to download the app and show real send flow). Europe and South America are also considered.

You must:
Be comfortable on camera
Have a smartphone (iPhone, Android, whatever)
Speak naturally (not reading a script word-for-word, but hitting key points)
Be available for a single filming day (likely 2-4 hours, depending on how many talents film that day)

You won’t be:
Compensated for individual edits (production will edit once you're done)
Signing away your image forever (3-month buyout only, then it's done)

The Script You’ll Follow
Here's an example of what your script might look like (translated to English; you'll receive in native Mandarin):

Example: Concept 1 – WeChat Pay (Ages 25-29)
[0-2 sec - hook] "My parents are always asking me for money. I used to worry about bank fees, but now I send them money through WeChat in seconds."

[2-8 sec - demo] [Show opening Remitly app on screen] "Download Remitly, select WeChat Pay, enter the amount — flat fee under $2. Done. They get the money instantly."

[8-12 sec - promo] "Try Remitly. First transfer is free for new customers. Whether you're in the US or Canada, send to your family in China."

[12-15 sec - legal/end] [End card appears with Remitly + WeChat Pay logos, disclaimer text in small font] "Download Remitly today."

You'll get the actual Mandarin script before filming. Your job is to deliver it naturally — not robotic, not like you're reading, but like you're explaining it to a friend.

How to Film Your Video
Setup (Keep It Simple)
Location: Your home, office, coffee shop — anywhere comfortable and well-lit
Lighting: Natural daylight or good indoor lighting (no harsh shadows)
Phone: Your regular smartphone. Hold it steady (tripod, prop it up, or steady hand)
Framing: Mostly you talking to camera, OR you showing your phone screen while talking (we'll provide screen recording backup if you can't set up the Remitly app)

What to Show

You, on camera: Talking to the lens, natural and conversational
Phone screen (optional but preferred): Showing the Remitly app flow, selecting payment method, entering amount
Your environment: Real background (home, office) — doesn't need to be fancy
Natural moments: If it feels right, show yourself opening the app, scrolling, reacting — whatever matches your story

Recording Tips
Shoot horizontal (landscape) for 16:9 format
Shoot vertical (portrait) for 9:16 format (or we can do both)
Speak clearly in natural, conversational Mandarin
Hit the key points from your script, but don't be robotic — riff if it feels natural
Do multiple takes — production will use the best one
Make sure sound is clear — find a quiet spot, minimal background noise
Check your phone battery — you might film for a while

What Production Provides
Before Filming:
Your complete script in native Mandarin (transcreated for natural delivery)
Remitly app downloaded on your phone (or pre-recorded screen recordings if you can't set it up)
Clear direction on what to show, how to flow, tone to hit
Bilingual director on-set or on call to answer questions

During Filming:
Technical support if app won't download or screen record
Real-time feedback on takes
Time to do multiple versions

After Filming:
You submit raw footage via platform upload
We handle all editing, captions, legal disclaimers, brand logos, etc.
You're done (3-month buyout covers all uses)

Usage Rights and Compensation
3-month buyout: Your video will run for 3 months on Remitly's campaigns (YouTube, programmatic ads, paid social)
Territory: US and Canada combined in one license
What happens after 3 months: Remitly can choose to extend, pull the video, or move on — your commitment is 3 months only
Your agreement: Simple talent contract (we'll send it)
No ongoing royalties or residuals — flat buyout, one payment.

Do:
Be yourself
Speak naturally, like you're texting a friend (but in Mandarin)
Show real emotions (relief, excitement, pride in helping family)
Move naturally (hands, gestures, expressions)
Make eye contact with camera
Film in real environments (your actual apartment, not a studio)

Don’t:
Read the script word-for-word like a robot
Use overly formal or corporate language
Pretend if you don't actually send money to China (we can work with that, just be authentic)
Over-produce (we want UGC, not a Hollywood commercial)
Use professional actors or staged moments
Focus only on the app — focus on the benefit (helping family, peace of mind, speed)

Important: Mandarin and Product Terms
Your script will use specific product terms that must match what users see in the Remitly app:

No: "WeChat”
Yes: "Weixin (WeChat Pay)" or "微信支付"

No: Random fee amount
Yes: "Under $2" or "less than $2"

No: Made-up benefits
Yes: Only what the app actually offers

Why it matters: Chinese users are detail-oriented and will notice if terminology doesn't match reality. Your credibility depends on accuracy.

Timeline
Step Timing Your Role

Script Delivery 1-2 weeks before filming Review, ask questions, prepare
App Setup 1 week before filming Download Remitly (or we provide screens)
Filming Day ~3-4 hours on agreed date Show up, do your thing, multiple takes
Raw Footage Upload Within 24 hrs of filming Upload to platform
Editing: 1-2 weeks after filming.
Review: When drafts are ready, watch, give feedback if needed
Final Delivery: Mid-November. Videos go live.

FAQ for creators
Q: Do I have to memorize the script?
A: No. Know the key points, understand your story, then deliver it naturally. Multiple takes are fine.

Q: What if I can't download the Remitly app?
A: We'll provide screen recordings for you to reference or include in your video. No problem.

Q: Will my video be on TikTok?
A: No, it will be on YouTube, YouTube Shorts, programmatic display ads, and paid social (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Not organic social.

Q: Can I use it in my portfolio after 3 months?
A: After 3 months, the usage rights expire for Remitly's campaign. You can use it for portfolio purposes with permission.

Q: What if I mess up a take?
A: Do it again. You'll film multiple takes and pick the best one. No pressure.

Q: Do I get paid if the video does well or gets lots of views?
A: No, it's a flat buyout. You get paid for the work, not performance.

Q: Will I be on camera for more than one concept?
A: No, you're assigned to one concept. Four different people are cast for authenticity across age groups.

Q: Is there a dress code?
A: Wear what you'd normally wear. Natural style, nothing too trendy that will look dated in 3 months. This can be discussed in more detail once the project is confirmed.

How to prep
Before Filming Day:
Read your script (in Mandarin)
Understand the story
Know the app flow
Practice delivery 2-3 times (natural, not memorized)
Test your phone
Charge it fully
Clear storage (video files are big)
Test camera quality (front-facing for you, back for screen recording)
Test audio (record 10 seconds, listen back, check sound is clear)
Prep your space
Clean background (doesn't need to be fancy, just not messy)
Check lighting (natural daylight is best)
Minimize background noise (turn off TV, ask roommates to be quiet)
Have a tripod or something to prop your phone on
Download Remitly (if you're doing screen recording)
Sign up for an account
Set send country to US
Test screen recording on your phone (how to do it for iOS vs. Android)
Get comfortable
Eat, drink water, use the bathroom
Do a few practice takes alone
Get in the mindset (what's your story, how do you feel about it)

During Filming Day:
Our bilingual director will be there (on-set or on video call)
Production does a quick tech check
Run through the script once or twice together
Film 5-10 takes (director will direct, you deliver)
You might be asked for variations ("Can you say it faster?" "More excited?")
Takes 30 mins - 2 hours total, depending on how many people are filming

What Remitly is and Why this Matters
Remitly: Digital money transfer app. Chinese immigrants in US/Canada send money home to family in China — faster, cheaper, easier than banks.

Your Job: Show people like your parents, aunts, and uncles how to use it. Be the proof that it works and that it's legit.

Why It Matters: 75% of money sent to China still goes through slow, expensive banks. Remitly is trying to change that. Your authentic story helps Chinese users trust it.
