Location: Remote within the United States

Reports to: US Communications Manager

Duration: Project-based with ongoing work possible

Organization Overview

At the heart of Elba Hope Foundation’s mission lies a steadfast commitment to sustainable progress and better futures for Africans and the African Diaspora through the interconnected tools of agriculture, conservation, food security, education, youth advocacy, and social justice. Our goal is to drive transformative change by fostering innovation, empowering communities, and forming strategic partnerships that will have a lasting impact on these sectors, both today and for future generations.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to support our 2026 campaign initiatives and ongoing communications needs. This is a project-based contractor role ideal for a proactive designer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about using design to drive social impact. EHF’s brand is vibrant and modern; we are looking for a designer who enjoys innovating, pushing boundaries, and thinking outside of the literal box with brand design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver high-quality, engaging visual assets aligned with campaign strategies and EHF’s brand guidelines

  • Ensure visual consistency across all communications materials

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and incorporate feedback efficiently

  • Manage multiple deliverables with quick turnaround timelines during active campaigns

  • Oversee the production of the core programmatic assets in partnership with the US Communications Manager, ensuring all materials are consistent with EHF’s brand identity and campaign objectives

  • Maintain organization of assets in our design library for internal team access

Deliverables include:

  • Social media assets, including static posts, carousels, infographics, and short-form video or reel templates, and slide deck design

  • Print and web assets

  • Design alignment with the provided brand guidelines and media asset visuals

  • Exported files optimized for web and social media platforms

  • Revisions or variations based on feedback rounds from the project team

  • Deliver all final files as editable Canva templates, accessible and adaptable for internal team use

A typical campaign may include:

  • 4–6 social assets

  • 1 campaign kit (launch graphics, carousels, stories, reel templates)

  • 1 infographic or multi-tile explainer

  • 2-3 event visual or branded announcement

  • Provide 2-3 rounds of revisions per asset, applying team feedback

Exact volume will be scoped based on campaign needs.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of graphic design experience (freelance or in-house)

  • Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is required; experience working in Figma is a plus

  • Experience in designing event assets (e.g. programs, menu, step-and-repeat, save the date, etc).

  • Strong visual storyteller who delivers high-quality assets consistently while operating with minimal supervision

  • Highly collaborative, open to incorporating feedback, and comfortable working iteratively

  • Able to manage tight deadlines and multiple deliverables simultaneously

  • Responsive and open communicator who enjoys owning projects start to finish

  • Excited to experiment and bring fresh ideas while staying on brand

  • Ability to interpret briefs clearly and ask insightful clarifying questions

  • Experience supporting nonprofits, campaigns, or mission-driven brands (strong plus, but not mandatory)

Communications Preference

This is a fully remote role. The graphic designer is expected to communicate primarily via Slack and Email. While scheduling is flexible, availability during (10 am to 6 pm EST) may be required for check-ins or feedback calls.

Upon onboarding, the designer will receive EHF’s brand guidelines, campaign briefs, and all the necessary media assets to ensure a smooth start.

Time Commitment & Compensation

This is a project-based role with fees ranging from $150-$750 per project.

Application Instructions

To apply, please submit your resume, a cover letter outlining relevant experience, and a link to your portfolio. Portfolio submissions should include examples relevant to this role, social media campaigns, infographic design, print media design, and/or nonprofit/mission-driven work. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

We are seeking candidates who bring a deep contextual understanding of Africa and a strong alignment with our mission and values. This may come through lived experience, long-term professional engagement, or meaningful personal connection to the regions and communities we serve. Our work is rooted in respect for local leadership, cultural knowledge, and community-driven solutions, and we prioritize applicants who demonstrate humility, accountability, and a clear commitment to working in partnership with diverse stakeholders.
