Job Description

Bloom Montana is a 50+ location cannabis retailer operating across Montana. We recently launched a completely redesigned WordPress website integrated with Dutchie Ecommerce Pro.

Cannabis is a highly regulated, location-driven business. Traditional paid acquisition channels are limited, so organic search, local SEO, Google Business Profiles, owned digital experiences and first-party measurement are especially important to us.

Our goal is not simply to improve rankings. We want to understand and improve the full journey:

Search demand → Bloom visibility → store/location page → ecommerce → add to cart → checkout → BOPIS order → revenue

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the technical SEO, local SEO and analytics layer, initially stabilize and validate the new production environment, and then work with us on an ongoing monthly basis.

What is already in place

This is not a greenfield website build.

We already have:

A new WordPress website live

Dutchie Ecommerce Pro integration

50+ store/location pages

Store locator

Geolocation / nearest-store functionality

Store selection, switching and persistence

Store-specific ecommerce menus

Product/category shopping experience

Cart and checkout through Dutchie

Loyalty/customer account integration

Deals/promotions and educational content

Rank Math implemented

XML sitemap and core on-page SEO framework

Google Business Profiles connected to corresponding store pages

Internal GBP reporting being built for leadership and store-level weekly/monthly reporting

The website was intentionally rebuilt to move away from the older iframe-heavy ecommerce experience, which limited SEO, analytics visibility, attribution and customer-journey tracking.

What we need help with now

1. Technical SEO stabilization

We need an independent technical SEO review of the live production website and someone who can help get issues fixed, not just identify them.

Responsibilities include:

Full Screaming Frog production crawl

Validate legacy URL migration and 301 redirects

Identify remaining 404s, redirect chains and loops

Validate canonicals

Validate robots.txt and index/noindex rules

Validate XML sitemap

Review Search Console indexing and crawl issues

Audit titles, meta descriptions and H1s

Validate schema / structured data

Review internal linking

Identify duplicate or incorrect location metadata/content

Monitor Core Web Vitals / PageSpeed

Coordinate fixes with our development team and confirm they were implemented correctly

The original platform scope specifically included URL mapping, redirects, SEO preservation, analytics validation and launch QA, so this role is primarily about validating and operating the live environment correctly.

2. Local SEO across 50+ Montana locations

Local discoverability is extremely important to us.

We need help with:

Ongoing Google Business Profile QA and optimization

Ensuring GBP data matches website location data

Location-specific SEO recommendations

Local keyword tracking by city/store

Map-pack visibility

BrightLocal or similar local-grid tracking

Semrush or similar keyword/competitive tracking

Competitor analysis by market

Review/reputation-management process

Identifying stores gaining or losing local visibility

Our original growth strategy places SEO, local SEO, GBP, Search Console, store pages and reviews in the “Get Found” stage.

3. GA4 + Google Tag Manager implementation

This is one of the most important parts of the role.

We currently have multiple GA4 setups from different stages of the project and need someone to audit what exists and establish the correct production setup.

We need you to:

Audit existing GA4 properties

Audit GTM container(s)

Determine the correct production setup

Remove duplicate/missing tracking

Validate source/medium attribution

Identify whether traffic is incorrectly falling into Direct

Identify self-referrals or broken attribution

Validate new vs returning users

Validate landing-page reporting

Validate cross-domain/session continuity through Dutchie Ecommerce Pro

Work directly with Dutchie where needed

We want the full ecommerce journey measured:

Traffic → Store/Menu → Product View → Add to Cart → Checkout → Purchase

Including ecommerce events such as:

view_item_list

select_item

view_item

add_to_cart

remove_from_cart

view_cart

begin_checkout

purchase

We also need clean transaction and revenue data.

The original requirements explicitly called for GA4 customer-journey tracking, ecommerce tracking, conversion tracking and attribution.

4. GA4 ↔ Dutchie validation and reconciliation

We do not want someone to simply confirm that tags are firing.

We want to validate that GA4 ecommerce reporting is actually trustworthy.

This includes reconciling, where possible:

GA4 purchase events ↔ Dutchie ecommerce orders ↔ completed BOPIS transactions

We want to identify:

Missing purchase events

Duplicate purchase events

Transaction ID issues

Material revenue discrepancies

Attribution breaks

Unexpected Direct traffic

Session continuity issues

The goal is to trust GA4 enough to use it for business decisions.

5. Google Search Console and organic reporting

We need a clean recurring baseline for:

Organic clicks

Impressions

CTR

Average position

Branded vs non-branded traffic

Search queries

Landing pages

Indexation

Sitemap status

Crawl issues

Keyword movement

Store/city visibility

Competitor visibility

We want analysis, not just automated reports.

We need someone who can tell us:

What changed, why it changed, where the opportunity is, and what we should do next.

Tools we currently use / expect to use

Google Analytics 4

Google Tag Manager

Google Search Console

Google Business Profile

Screaming Frog

Semrush

BrightLocal

Rank Math

Dutchie Ecommerce Pro / Dutchie Backoffice

Rank Math is already installed. We need someone who understands the broader technical SEO and analytics architecture, not just how to operate a WordPress SEO plugin.

Working relationship

We are looking for an ongoing monthly engagement, ideally 6–12 months or longer.

The initial phase will focus on:

technical SEO stabilization

Search Console

GA4/GTM

Dutchie ecommerce measurement

local SEO baselines

ranking/technical tools

analytics validation

After that, the role should transition into ongoing monitoring and optimization.

We expect the person to be proactive. If something breaks, visibility drops, attribution changes, rankings move, or a meaningful opportunity appears, we want you to flag it and recommend what should happen next.

You will work closely with Bloom’s internal ecommerce lead and may coordinate directly with Dutchie, our development team, internal marketing/content resources and reporting/BI resources.

We are not looking for someone who only sends a monthly SEO PDF.

We want someone who can:

Find the issue → explain the business impact → recommend the fix → coordinate implementation → verify that it worked.

What success looks like

Over time, we should be able to confidently answer:

Are more people finding Bloom organically?

Which Montana stores and markets are gaining or losing visibility?

Are customers reaching the correct store?

What percentage enters ecommerce?

Where are customers dropping out of the funnel?

Are BOPIS orders and ecommerce share growing?

Which SEO improvements are generating actual ecommerce activity and revenue?

Our broader digital growth model is:

Get Found → Get Them to Bloom → Convert → Identify & Enroll → Retain & Grow → Advocate.

This role owns a critical part of the foundation that makes the first several stages measurable and optimizable.

Please include in your proposal

Your experience with technical SEO, local SEO and GA4/GTM for multi-location or ecommerce businesses.

What you would prioritize in your first 30 days based on the situation above.

How you would validate that GA4 ecommerce tracking and attribution are actually correct, not simply installed.

Examples of similar work you personally handled and your proposed ongoing monthly engagement model.

Experience with Dutchie, cannabis, regulated industries or multi-location retail is a plus, but not required.

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
